This painting was inspired by the danger of feminine expression in our society. Regardless of gender, presenting with features that appear feminine or soft can warrant unwanted attention, advances, or even physical threats and danger. I have always felt that these behaviors are not taken seriously in our world, and that we are expected to silently accept it. Despite the beauty of seeing or existing this way, we allow inequality and violence to prevail.
