Originally intended to be part of a three piece set exploring the differences in gouache, acrylic, and oil paint - this painting was a pleasantly satisfying exercise. The reference comes from a friend of mine and her pet snake. This continues my journey in exploring the depiction of snakes alongside botanicals and human images as a metaphor for the dark and light of nature that we exist amidst.
