"A Fruitless Spring" 12x16" Limited Edition Gold Hand Embellished Print

"A Fruitless Spring" 12x16" Limited Edition Gold Hand Embellished Print
This painting took over two years to complete. Upon starting, I intended to personify the season of Spring. Newly relocated back to the east coast of the US, I was relishing in the underrated season and how lush and full of life it is. But as my own journey with infertility began to overlap, I took note of the energy that is often not conveyed in this context. That it is not just delicate, lovely, feminine, and gentle. But also powerful, miraculous, unpredictable, and terrifying. A choice, not an obligation. A privilege, not a guarantee.
“To the ravaging unpredictability that is human fertility. To the rich abundance of the season of spring and its ability to call our attention to the fleeting present. To the awareness of the fleeting present and the seasonality of our existence. To the isolated journeys that wear us down, lift us up, change the way we exist in this world. To all of that and still…the way the flowers continue to bloom.”
